SCD Group is involved in all aspects of optical fibre networks from strategic supplies, network validation, loss budgets and dark fibre through to fully integrated solutions and the provision of bespoke dedicated private networks.

The range of typical services is shown on the left of this page.

Examples of SCD's work are highlighted below.

University of Hull

The University of Hull needed to develop the network capabilities in its own student houses. In order to help attract the brightest students is was essential to offer them a high capacity and reliable network infrastructure that was simple to manage.

Having initially considered a largely wireless infrastructure SCD’s turnkey solution has given the University its own duct infrastructure with private optical fibre to the houses.

University of Bradford

Our relationship with Bradford University goes back to 1988.

It started when multimode optical fibre was being implemented as the strategic and “futureproof” communications medium.

The basic philosophy and process of implementation established initially has been maintained and refined over the years (especially with the introduction and adoption of single mode fibre).

Sheffield Hallam University

Located in both the heart of Sheffield and its leafy suburbs, the University needed to provide high speed, future proof data connectivity between its campuses.

The resulting project became known as the “Big Dig”.
