SCD works with a number of clients within the highways and transportation arena throughout the United Kingdom delivering a diverse range of both urban and highways projects.

Working with our partners we can manage and deliver complete projects from small schemes within the urban environment through to large technical motorway communications schemes.

We currently work as supply chain partners to both Technical Maintaining Agent Contractors (TechMAC’s) and Design, Build, Finance, and Operate (DBFO) clients, our unique project management processes for complete project delivery can be maximised.

The range of typical services is shown on the left of this page; examples of some of the schemes SCD have delivered are listed below:

RMS, A1(M) Darrington to Dishfoth

RMS is the operator responsible for ensuring traffic flow rates are maintained throughout along the A1 and A1M motorway between Darrington and Dishforth.

SCD has worked alongside RMS to deliver the mission critical network infrastructure connecting all the induction loops and data collection stations. SCD provided new ducting and optical fibre networking to create this private data network.

Barnsley MBC

Over a number of years Barnsley MBC has developed its own private optical fibre network.

In late 2008 SCD was further commissioned to extend this infrastructure around the city centre’s main arterial roundabout at Townend, Barnsley.

The majority of the works involved the upgrading of traffic controlled pedestrian crossings where the kerbing, flagging and hard surfacing was replaced to meet the European directive for the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).

Stoke on Trent City Council

SCD has been working with Stoke-on-Trent City Council since 2004. Our partnership approach means working with the Council’s CCTV and Traffic departments helping them meet their individual and shared objectives.

Doncaster MBC

SCD has been working with Doncaster MBC since 1999. Our partnership approach means working with the Council’s ICT, CCTV and UTC departments in conjunction with South Yorkshire Police helping them meet their individual and shared objectives.

Sheffield City Council

In 2000 a partnership comprising Sheffield City Council, South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, Meadowhall Shopping Centre and four local communities was formed. Their objective was to jointly finance and create a shared optical fibre network throughout strategically important areas of Sheffield supporting new CCTV, ANPR and UTC services.
