SCD provides turnkey solutions higher education to institutions all over the UK.

These solutions are usually based on cabling systems be they data, voice, optical fibre or electrical. Often they require the additional capabilities available from within SCD Group to create full turnkey infrastructures.

The range of typical services is shown on the left of this page.

Examples of SCD's work are highlighted below.

University of Leeds

SCD Group has worked closely with the University over a number of years developing and implementing the network infrastructure.

SCD is currently engaged by the University on a three year term contract to provide cable and network infrastructures.

University of Hull

The University of Hull needed to develop the network capabilities in its own student houses. In order to help attract the brightest students is was essential to offer them a high capacity and reliable network infrastructure that was simple to manage.

Having initially considered a largely wireless infrastructure SCD’s turnkey solution has given the University its own duct infrastructure with private optical fibre to the houses.

University of Bradford

Our relationship with Bradford University goes back to 1988.

It started when multimode optical fibre was being implemented as the strategic and “futureproof” communications medium.

The basic philosophy and process of implementation established initially has been maintained and refined over the years (especially with the introduction and adoption of single mode fibre).

Sheffield Hallam University

Located in both the heart of Sheffield and its leafy suburbs, the University needed to provide high speed, future proof data connectivity between its campuses.

The resulting project became known as the “Big Dig”.

University of Sheffield

Sheffield University, like others, has to compete to attract local and foreign students by offering the highest class of education backed by the best facilities.

A key part of its aggressive strategy is the construction of a fully serviced Student Village on the grounds of old halls of residence.
